The Voice of God Today

THE VOICE OF GOD today…

“Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams. 1 samuel15; 22.

There is something about this generation that is not right even though they profess to know God and according to the scripture it reveals that many Christians of this generation have mis- understood salvation and what salvation is all about and this hindered them to remain in darkness even though many are going to church every Sunday still they learnt nothing about the voice of God. Very many Christians do not know that God even speaks today, and those other who have come to listen to the voice of God still they remain at the edge of just listening not hearing the voice of God.

Through guidance of the Holy Spirit I will be able to tackle the subject regarding hearing the voice of God, what it means to hear the voice of God and how can you hear the voice of God and through what ways God can speak to us and what hinders people from hearing the voice of God. Throught all the scriptures from Genesis we see God crying over people not hearing his voice and this hindered us from seeing his power, the Holy Spirit grieves about us when we do not hear the voice of God.

Firstly there is a difference between hearing the voice of God and listening to the Voice of God, the two are different in approach and many Christians have not even heard the voice of God not even listening to his voice either. Right way from genesis a Man has not heard the voice of God even when God has spoken to man, we have been rebellious prior to the Fall of Man, because the first people created did not heed the voice of God even though he had spoken to them, there is a mystery about hearing the voice of God we have not understood still in this generation and when we don’t hear the voice of God it means we fall into temptations of the devil and then eventually sin, and that will create more barriers not even to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit. Taking an example of Adam and Eve, God spoke to them concerning the fruit in the Garden of Eden and he really commanded them not touch the middle tree which was of knowledge to know good and evil, but what happened? The actions of Adam and Eve were that they listened to the voice of God but they did not hear God’s voice, so then they did not take time to ask God about what would happen and the temptation that would follow after they had not heeded his voice and the command that was given, so they did not pray to God to find out from God and even to pray to God that he may protect them from temptations.

THE MYSTERY UNDERLYING THE VOICE OF GOD.

When God speaks to man always there is a force that will always come to make the voice of God void and in vain that the man would blame God for not fulfilling his promises and that other force is from the devil and his voice will be more frequent than that of God that he may cancel out what was spoken by God. What does that mean or leave us, that when God spoke to Adam and Eve, about the fruit, he was seeking obedience from them and that is heeding the voice, but Adam and Eve did not heed the voice of God, after telling them, there is another voice that came to nullify the first voice that was tender and good, the second voice was bad because it did not allow Adam and Eve to pray to God, and that Voice was from Satan and it hindered Adam from being obedient to God and it created a dilemma between Adam and God since he just listened to the voice and left out the part of hearing then it resulted into sin which caused many not to listen to the voice of God and even not listening as well. Hearing the voice of God means to learn, to find out and obey, this means to obey is to make an action and this will justify the Faith we have in God. But when we do not do what God has said it means we have not heard his voice, so then hearing the voice of God is doing what he needs you to do and that is obedience. But the way he speaks will be different and we shall be looking at in details.

Adam and Eve were given the Holy Spirit but they did not listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit and I have come to know once you do not have the Holy Spirit guidance you fall into temptation, so they rejected the advice of the Holy Spirit as many Christians do today, and when Satan sees that the voice of God came to you, he will make sure nothing you will do, that is to make you rebellious against the voice of God that would bridge the gap between you and God like the same he did with Adam and Eve, they had all the grace of God, mercy of God but they did not use the grace appropriately according the way it was given, so they knew since they have authority they could not disobey God and indeed they did not know about the other voice of the devil, nor did they know about the evils works and plans of the enemy the devil, Satan, so they relaxed, they did not use their authority to obey God, through prayer and finding out from him, because from the beginning you see God created them and even blessed them and he had given them all the promises and devil wanted the blessing to turn into the curse that they may not get promises of God. God had planned blessings only but now the enemy was a curse before God, so he fought the voice of God to be heeded in vain by the two and later it would create a huge gap between God and his people he had created and that is what Satan had planned, so listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit would have helped them not to fall into the trap of Satan who was looking to bridge the gap between God and Man, but a man had all the decisions to accept Holy Spirit guidance or reject and that would not shift blame to God for his errors and that makes God very unique, that he has made us to make decision to obey or to disobey his voice. So Adam did not hear the Voice of God and that led them to sin that has affected the entire earth and this affected the creation itself and dramatically changed the shift in authority and it also created that some people will be for God and others for the devil, so they made the devil have human followers, the earth became divided into two, some authority went to the devil because of sin, and it is till this day, those who do not hear the voice of God belong to the devil because of disobedience and those who belong to God have heard the voice of God by accepting Christ into their lives.

According to the scriptures hearing the voice of God is obedience,

Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams. 1 samuel15; 22.

Samuel was telling Saul, who had been sent by God to go and demolish all the Amakelites because they had disturbed the Israelites when they just come out of Egypt, so God was avenging them for what they did, so he sent Samuel to reach the message to Saul, and Saul according to scriptures he seemed hearing the voice, so he went to attack the people whom God had told him but his actions did show that he did not hear the voice of God. When he reached he did not do as God had commanded him to do, so as he went out to fight, another voices followed him to hinder from hearing the voice of God. And this is the Message that came from God to Saul concerning the mission;

Samuel said to Saul, “I am the one the Lord sent to anoint you king over his people Israel; so listen now to the message from the Lord. This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘I will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid them as they came up from Egypt. Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys. 1 Samuel15; 1-3. According to the voice of God through Samuel he never wanted any compromise on any of his word and he wanted totally all the people destroyed young, old, animals destroyed and this is what Saul did after listening to Samuel and went with the Army,

Then Saul attacked the Amalekites all the way from Havilah to Shur, near the eastern border of Egypt. He took Agag king of the Amalekites alive, and all his people he totally destroyed with the sword. But Saul and the army spared Agag and the best of the sheep and cattle, the fat calvesb and lambs—everything that was good. These they were unwilling to destroy completely, but everything that was despised and weak they totally destroyed. 1 Samuel15; 7-9

From the message that came from God was, do not spare anyone but in Saul actions, we see some good things were spared, and the king was spared and this action only revealed that he did not heed the voice of God and never did her hear the voice of God.

So God grieved about the action done,

Then the word of the Lord came to Samuel: “I regret that I have made Saul king, because he has turned away from me and has not carried out my instructions.” Samuel was angry, and he cried out to the Lord all that night.1 Samuel15; 10.

According Saul he thought he had carried out instructions but not all were done as per the voice of God. So he was disobedient and he termed as stubborn, witch, idolatry worshiper because he did not hear the voice of God, he did some and left some so he did not obey completely all what God had told him and so he was rejected by God, he thought could buy God for offerings and sacrifices as many Christians do today, and they think may be God would forgive me for offerings or helping even when am sinning and that he is so merciful he cannot take me to Hell. So they don’t follow the instructions of the Lord God in his word, they pick some and leave some but they are sure they will enter heaven, but you see Saul was very sure that he had carried the instructions and even thought he had heard the voice of the Lord God like many Christians think, just see the statement of Saul,

Early in the morning Samuel got up and went to meet Saul, but he was told, “Saul has gone to Carmel. There he has set up a monument in his own honor and has turned and gone on down to Gilgal.”

When Samuel reached him, Saul said, “The Lord bless you! I have carried out the Lord’s instructions.”

But Samuel said, “What then is this bleating of sheep in my ears? What is this lowing of cattle that I hear?”

Saul answered, “The soldiers brought them from the Amakelites; they spared the best of the sheep and cattle to sacrifice to the Lord your God, but we totally destroyed the rest.”

“Enough!” Samuel said to Saul. “Let me tell you what the Lord said to me last night.”

“Tell me,” Saul replied.

Samuel said, “Although you were once small in your own eyes, did you not become the head of the tribes of Israel? The Lord anointed you king over Israel. And he sent you on a mission, saying, ‘Go and completely destroy those wicked people, the Amakelites; wage war against them until you have wiped them out.’ Why did you not obey the Lord? Why did you pounce on the plunder and do evil in the eyes of the Lord?”

“But I did obey the Lord,” Saul said. “I went on the mission the Lord assigned me. I completely destroyed the Amalekites and brought back Agag their king. The soldiers took sheep and cattle from the plunder, the best of what was devoted to God, in order to sacrifice them to the Lord your God at Gilgal.”

But Samuel replied:“Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices

As much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry.

Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has rejected you as king.”1 Samuel15; 12-23.

According to Saul from the above story he thought he had carried the instructions of God like many Christians profess but what did Samuel reply to Saul? He told him that nothing he had done because he thought he could carry some and leave some, and what hindered him from carrying the other instructions of God? It was other voices of the devil, through the people the devil will make you carry a few instructions, either you want to please your family or your friends or relatives around you and they make you rebellious and to be rebellious is as sorcery and evil of idolatry, so to obey is to hear the voice of God…

Many Christians fall into the line of Saul, by observing some commandments of God due to influence of their family or friends to please them and fall into sin of disobedience but they continue in salvation thinking all is good like Saul in the days of Samuel, but what happened to Saul? He was rejected by God as king and he found his way to Hell, because he did not obey the voice of God. The actions that we take as Christians reveal whether we hear the voice of God. The voice of God will be tender, it will come as an instruction through his word and any other way he has spoken but if it is not heeded in doing then it’s in vain and you are rejected.

There are so many examples that we can take regarding the voice of God, during the days of Moses and Aaron, the children of Israel did not heed the voice of God, and what did this mean? It meant they did not obey his commandments, judgments, precepts, his Laws that he had given them so they were killed in the wilderness, they thought going back to Egypt was better off than moving in wilderness for their preparation to receive better salvation, their journey became long for them because they did not heed the voice of God and all they did was to get back to Egypt. And of course this is happening today in many Christians, they have gone back to Egypt and some are on their to Egypt, because they are tired of God’s preparation for Eternal Life and the world has become their sphere of living to please their bodies, families, their mothers and they have not obeyed the voice of God, they listen in part.

So God was regretting and grieved about not hearing today, and this is what he said;

I heard an unknown voice say: “I removed the burden from their shoulders;

Their hands were set free from the basket. In your distress you called and I rescued you,

I answered you out of a thundercloud; I tested you at the waters of Meribah.c

Hear me, my people, and I will warn you—if you would only listen to me, Israel!

You shall have no foreign god among you; you shall not worship any god other than me.

I am the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it. “But my people would not listen to me; Israel would not submit to me.

So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts to follow their own devices. Psalms81; 6-12

As you can see that hearing the Voice of God is submission and obedience to his word, its not carrying some and ignoring some but to obey all the commandments, so then God will care about your obedience before him before he can accept your sacrifice, the way you behave towards his word than sacrifices you make to him, he is more concerned about obedience and humility before him. Your offering will be smelling before him if you do not do what he says, its like trying to bribe God to accept you minus obedience.

HOW DOES GOD SPEAK?

So many Christians might say but how can I hear God’s voice or how can I know that he is speaking to me,

The first way to hear God’s voice is through Christ Jesus, who came to bridge the gap between Man and God, then after being born again you, shall receive the Holy Spirit who will enable you to listen and to hear God’s voice. The obstacle to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit is sin and only sin can be broken through Christ Jesus. You must be born Again to start listening or hearing God’s voice clearly and this will take much more of obedience towards God through Christ Jesus, and through the Holy Spirit. But of course will say how does he speak?

Many Christians find it very hard to hear the voice of God. Does this mean God doesn’t speak to us anymore? No. He longs to have a deep friendship with each and every one of us. Therefore he is speaking to us every day, in every situation. He wants to teach us how to hear his voice that is always full of love and comfort for us.

Being able to hear the voice of God makes us stronger to overcome the challenges in our life and helps us avoid pitfalls and make the right choices.

In this article you find important keys to hearing God’s voice, based on the Bible. I encourage you to take some to read this entire article and put it in practice. It will bring life saving blessings and strength to you and your beloved ones!

Many Christians have heard in their churches that God does not speak anymore today. Is that true? Let’s see what the Bible has to say about this. We see throughout the Bible that God speaks:

The Mighty One, God, the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to where it sets! (Psalm 50:1)

Man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. (Deuteronomy 8:3)

Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live. (Isaiah 55:3)

I will listen to what God the Lord says. (Psalm 85:8)

The Bible says that God had such an intimate relationship with some people that he spoke with them as one speaks to a friend.

We are not less than the men or women of God in the Bible! We can develop an intimate heart-to-heart relationship with God as well, if we truly want to.

The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. (Exodus 33:11)

Elijah was a human being, even as we are. (James 5:17)

I have called you friends… (John 15:15)

The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. (Psalm 25:14)

Jesus Christ said that everyone who belongs to him, can hear his voice. In fact He said that the ability to recognize his voice is the hallmark of every true follower of Jesus Christ.

My sheep listen to my voice. (John 10:27)

The core message of the Bible is that God wants to have an intimate relationship with us.

Yet many Christians have learned that God stopped speaking to us, since the Bible was put together. This teaching goes directly against the truth revealed in the Bible that God desires to speak to us and wants us to learn to hear his voice

Since pentecost we are living in a time that is characterized by the voice of God. God is speaking more today than he has ever done in the past. Since the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the gifts of speaking in tongues and prophecy have been poured out abundantly over God’s people all over the world.

These gifts release the voice of God!

‘I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.’ (Acts 2:17, 18)

The apostle Paul calls the gift of prophecy the most important gift of the Holy Spirit.

Eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy…. The one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort. (1 Corinthians 14:1-4)

Throughout the New Testament we see that the Spirit of God speaks to people:

The Spirit told me to have no hesitation about going with them. (Acts 11:12)

The Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” (Acts 13:2)

The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith. (1 Timothy 4:1)

The apostle Peter even instructed us very clearly that we must allow God to speak through us:

If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. (1 Peter 4:11)

The Bible says we are taught by the Holy Spirit, who leads us into all truth. How can he teach us, if we can’t hear his voice?

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. (John 16:13)

But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. (1 Corinthians 2: 10)

When we read the Bible, it is obvious in both the Old as the New Testament that God speaks to us.

He wants to have fellowship with us, he wants to fill us with his Holy Spirit so we would prophecy, see visions, receive his dreams etc. God is a speaking God, he wants us to hear his voice and he instructs us to become vessels of his voice to encourage others.

Basic conditions to hear the voice of God

Now that we know for sure that God still speaks today, the next question is: how can we hear the voice of God? And, how can we be sure we are not deceived by a wrong voice, for example by a deceiving spirit? First of all I want to outline two very basic principles that help you hear the voice of God accurately. For some this may sound too obvious, but it is absolutely essential not to skip these two steps.

The first foundation to hearing the voice of God in a pure way, is to deeply and radically repent from your selfish life and believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross to set you free from your sins and accept him as Lord and the only Saviour of your life.

Only Jesus Christ is the way to God and without him you will never be able to hear the voice of God clearly.

If you do not submit your life, your pride, your will, your emotions, your spirit – your entire being to the lordship of Jesus Christ, you will start hearing voices of spirits that imitate the Holy Spirit and you will be deceived.

Jesus Christ came to set us free from the realm of witchcraft, deception and darkness and to bring us close to God. He made it clear that he is the only way to a relationship with the heavenly Father:

I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6)

I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life. (John 8:12)

Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and rose back to life, as conqueror over every power of lying and deception.

Without Jesus Christ we are exposed to spirits and spiritual powers that want to mislead us. But he came into this world to bring the true light, that sets us free.

The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. (John 1:9)

So first of all: bow down before Jesus Christ with all your heart, all your mind and all your soul.

Deny once and for all every other spiritual source of influence, close the doors to every form of occult practice, sorcery, new age, witchcraft, fortunetelling… throw it as far from you as the east is from the west, repent from it with all your heart and bow deep before the throne of the Lord Jesus Christ, the King of kings and the Lord of lords, who died for you, to forgive your sins and give you a brand new life in him.

Let your pride go down the drain, let your own opinions and every form of rebellion fall away and kneel before Jesus Christ. Surrender to him and ask him to become your one and only true Lord, God, King and Source.

Bottom of Form

Be filled with the Holy Spirit

The second key to hear the voice of God is receiving the Holy Spirit. The Bible says that everyone who believes in Jesus Christ may receive the glorious, amazing gift of the Holy Spirit.

Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38)

The Spirit of God is also called the Spirit of TRUTH and he will teach you to develop a truthful relationship with Jesus Christ and your heavenly Father.

Without being baptized (or filled) with the Spirit of God, it is impossible to hear the voice of God clearly and regularly. He is the breath of God who comes to live inside of you, to enable you to have a supernatural relationship with God.

Listen to the voice of God

God desires more than anything to talk to you, but he is waiting for you to learn to listen. We are so used to talking to God but we haven’t learned that God also wants to say something to us. There is only a relationship when there is communication. You have a friendship when you talk with each other and listen to each other.

Learning to listen is the first step.

Take time to be with God, without saying anything. Learn to relax with God. Learn to open your heart for Him. Learn to set time apart to come into quietness and rest with God. Get away from the restlessness of the world, the many sounds of television and internet and seek the stillness. He will speak. You can count on that. It is unusual to hear God’s voice as loud as Samuel did when he was called out of bed in the middle of the night…

God usually speaks softly, in your heart.

You know, you live in a body, you possess a soul but you are a SPIRIT. And God? God is spirit too. That is why God speaks to you in a spiritual manner. That is: He speaks to your spirit. So you can hear him with the ears of your spirit. Ears of my spirit? Yes indeed. Your spirit has senses just like your body. Because when you are outside your body, you can STILL see, hear and feel. People who have had a near death experience, left their body for a short period of time and suddenly they could see, hear and feel much better.

Your body has senses. But your spirit also has senses.

When God speaks, you listen with the ears of your spirit and when God shows you something, you will see it with the eyes of your spirit. True wisdom is not in your physical brains, but in the ‘brains’ of your spirit. That is why the Bible says that only knowing God intimately makes you truly wise. That is why Jesus said:

I have taught you for three years, but only if the holy Spirit will come into you, you will understand. He will lead you into truly knowing (by experience) the truth. (Paraphrased from John 14-17)

Real knowledge of God doesn’t develop in your brain, but in your spirit. It is given to you by the holy Spirit of God. That is an important difference. A well-known Christian song says: ‘open the eyes of my heart, Lord’. A bible verse says:

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling. (Ephesians 1:18)

God wants to teach you to use your spiritual senses.

As Westerners we have been taught to understand everything from our brains. If our grey cells cannot grasp it, we want to keep a safe distance. However, God is not a set of brain cells, nor is he a book full of words. He is SPIRIT and speaks to our spirit, in a spiritual way, to our spiritual senses.

How do you listen with the ears of your spirit?

It is like you ‘hear’ something in your heart or in your thoughts. A soft voice. A deep impression in your heart. An inner feeling. Soft, loving, something very clear, sometimes very quiet. You can’t hear it with your physical ears but nonetheless it is a clear thought, a clear sound, a clear meaning. You just hear it. Very simple. Or you know something very strongly. Or you can feel a thought well up from the inward. It comes spontaneously, naturally, quietly.

The voice of God is like a spring that spontaneously wells up.

Voices that intrude aggressively, voices that chase you up, voice that frighten you or cause agitation, are never God’s voice. Because God is love and he speaks from love. God is a father, a friend, a lover. He is also a loving Shepherd. He doesn’t need to shout in your ears. He is soft, loving and constructive. Even when he corrects you, he will do it from his love and with the desire to bring you more in his love.

How do the eyes of your spirit function?

You can ‘see’ something with your inner eyes yet it is invisible for your physical eyes. You can just SEE it in front of you. Simple. God shows it to you. Some have a gift of God to ‘see’ very often what God is showing them. With others it is less often. But we all have spiritual eyes and we all have the ability to ‘see’ spiritually.

You can always ask God to open your eyes more and to teach you to see with the eyes of your spirit.

When God shows you something in your spirit it usually makes a deep impression. I once saw an image of an awesome light. The thought came into my heart ‘This light is God. You are outside of that light. You don’t have to be. You are supposed to be in that light. Don’t be afraid and come completely into the light of God.’ At that same moment I felt suddenly that I was completely surrounded by that enormous light.

The lesson God showed me with this was: ‘You are NOT TOO FEEBLE to stand in the full light of God. God doesn’t want you to separate yourself from Him because He forgives your mistakes. Realise that you are allowed to be in the center of the LIGHT of God. Come and be at ease where you are supposed to live: in the full light of God.’

I discovered through this image and the thoughts that followed that God accepts me completely. You will never forget lessons like that.

If you want to see something of God, just close your eyes and relax. Ask Jesus Christ to show you something.

Some Christians have gifts of revelations so they can ask the Holy Spirit if they wanted to learn about something in the spiritual realms and indeed the gifts of revelations are with the few Christians and some have not well known that they do possess such gifts and yet it is another way of hearing the voice of God through the Holy Spirit, because he would reveal to you either what is happening in heavens and what God is planning for his people.

Paying attention to the Holy Spirit voice will help us alot but all this occurs when you are repentant Christian and obedience and in total submission, the Holy Spirit dwells in repentant and obedient believers of Jesus Christ.

Different ways to hear the voice of God

God speaks in many different ways. If you pay attention to God’s voice you will notice that He will use every possible way to reach you. Following are some ways how God can speak to you:

Hear the voice of God in the Bible

The Bible is God’s book in which He shows Himself. When you read in it, you can learn so much about Him and yourself. Everything is about his relationship with you and His love.

When you read the Bible, always ask God to lead you through his Holy Spirit.

Because the Bible will only become God’s voice to you if the Spirit of God leads you, for you to get things out of it that God wants to say to you. But reading the bible with carnal mind without God’s Holy Spirit guiding you, you cannot hear God’s voice thats many Christians have read the bible but have not changed their ways and that means they have not heard God’s voice through his word.

HEAR THE VOICE OF GOD LOUD AND CLEAR

Like the young Samuel that heard God’s voice so loudly it woke him up. There is also the example of the baptism of Jesus Christ where God’s voice sounded so loud that the bystanders said it was a thunder strike. Even today God speaks to people with an audible voice, though not very often. Yes God is not limited he can speak as loud as he can that you may hear his voice but that occasion will be rare.

HEAR THE VOICE OF GOD IN YOUR HEART

This is what we already discussed. You can hear that voice essentially in your spirit aka you inner being. In your thoughts you can hear three voices: your own, the voices of demons (who only speak lies) and God’s voice. The more you practise, the better you will be able to discern God’s voice. That is the only way. Try, practise and build up experience. You will learn it as you follow God for a longer period of time. It is important to always check the voice to the message God has revealed in the Bible. When a voice says things that are not in agreement with what the Bible says, it is a deceiving voice. Satan voice will most of the time lead you in grief, disobedience, over excitement to make you make mistakes, it makes you rush into making up decisions that you may think is God but yet in reality, Satans voice creates pride in you, God’s voice changes your inner thinking and leads you to follow God and love him, things that manifest after voice of God will be different

HEAR THE VOICE OF GOD THROUGH PEACE OR AGITATION;

God always speaks to us by giving us inner peace or unrest when having a certain thought or decision we want to take. God lives in your inner being so He will always confirm something if it is of Him or not, by His inner peace. God can speak very clearly to you by giving you a feeling of sadness when taking a certain decision or a feeling of unrest.

In those cases it is better to wait until you receive more clarity from God. Typically, if a decision is in line with the will of God, the Holy Spirit will give you peace and joy over it.

If you experience a feeling of oppression, agitation or fear, it is not the will of God. The voice of Satan is pressing and rushy it makes you do things without confidence

Even when making a difficult decision that will ask something of you, when you make that decision it will give you a feeling of freedom and peace. To break free from an ungodly relationship can cause emotional pain for a while, but at a deeper level will the spirit of God give you a profound peace.

Jesus Christ had to lay down his life and made the choice to do God’s will. That was a very hard step that involved a lot of pain, but God sent Him an angel to give Him peace and strength. God confirms his will always by peace. Deep inner peace. Agitation is a sign that something is not up to par or not right and the devil uses it oftenly and his demons do it alot.

HEAR THE VOICE OF GOD IN DREAMS, VISIONS AND IMAGES

In the Bible there are many examples of people receiving dreams where God speaks to them. A dream like that can be some kind of allegory or metaphor. Typical for a dream of God is that you can’t forget about it. You keep wondering ‘what does this dream mean?’ That is a sign that God wants you to find the explanation of that dream.

A nightmare seldom comes from God. God can give you a disturbing dream to warn you, but in general a dark dream that brings a lot of agitation is not from God. There are dreams that come from the devil too and they oftenly bring agitation and they capture mind not to think rightly, they are night mares too. Satan can bring dreams according to your thoughts and desires that you may fall into his traps, most of the Christians have got dreams got Satan about their too much desires over something they needed in their lives and most of them presumed God has spoken but that is not true and this kept many in darkness thinking God is speaking to them. Satan can bring an intense revelations that creates pride, most especially exaltation dreams they are from Satan and most Christians have heard such dreams that exalt them oftenly than others and they fall into traps of the devil, if we follow our desires so much they create a dream but it doesn’t mean God has spoken, something God has spoken comes to pass.

Is there a dream gnawing at you and you don’t understand it? Go and talk to other, more mature Christians. But you must be careful where whom you take your dreams because most christians do not know about interpreting the dreams so they mislead you and others may feel jealousy like the other brothers of Joseph the sons of Jacob.

Make sure you don’t run with a human explanation but listen to the inner confirmation in your heart. Sometimes it takes a long time before you find an explanation about a dream. That is ok.

A vision is like a dream, but while you are awake. You will see some kind of movie in front of you and it can be real vivid. You can find this in the Bible as well. Ezekiel, Daniel and John all had visions like that.

Finally, images are like pictures you can see. God will simply show you something and let you understand the meaning of it. This happens often during prayer. God shows images to make something clearer.

Hear the voice of God through the gift of prophecy

Prophecy is passing on the voice of God. It is a special gift of the Holy Spirit of which the Bible says we should desire this gift above all others.

Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. (1 Cor. 14:1)

The gift of prophecy is meant to encourage others, build them up and correct them. This gift is so important to God because everybody is able to receive it and it so encouraging when it is pure and functioning truly through God’s Spirit.

You do have to be careful with prophecy because some people abuse it to manipulate others. Still, that is no reason not to pursue this gift. It just should be a motivation to strive for the pure workings of this important gift of God. But an example can be during days of King Asa, in the chronicles. The Holy Spirit came upon Azariah son of Oded and he came to speak to King Asa and encourage him to do God’s work. And this happens in the church today if they Holy Spirit is manifesting to drive the church, to warn, to direct, to encourage the church and also to awaken the church.

Now the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded. And he came to meet Asa, and said to him: hear me Asa, all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you while you are with Him. If you seek him, He Will be found by you: but if you forsake him, he will forsake you. For a long time Israel has been witthout a true God, without a teaching priest and without Law. But in their trouble they turned to the Lord God of Israel and sought him, he was found by them and in those times there was no peace to the one who went out, nor to the one who came in but great turnmoil was on all in habitants of the lands. So nation was destroyed by nation and city by city, for God troubled them their adversity. But you be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded. And when Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage and removed the abominable idols from all land of Judah, and benjamin and from cities which he had taken in the mountains of Ephraim: and he restored the altar of the Lord that was before the vestibule of the Lord. 2 chronicles15:1-8.

You can see to hear the voice of God you must obedient and submissive to God, during the days of Asa the Holy Spirit came and spoke to Asa the king because they had turned away from evil ways and sought for God’s direction but previously they Israelites had moved away from God’s ordinances and commandments, so God hid his face from them and his voice was rare until the days of King Asa who turned people to seek God and they may be helped because the nation was under plunder and disobedience so it hindered the voice of God. So to hear the voice of God you must seek him in truth and in Spirit then he will send his Spirit to speak to us to encourage us, his voice encourages us, and gives us hope in whatever we do and this has been confirmed after Asa encounter with the Holy Spirit upon Oded, it gave him peace in the heart

HEAR THE VOICE OF GOD BY BEING POINTED TO SOMETHING;

There are moments where you find yourself looking at something for no obvious reason. This could be an object, a text or a person. It often happens that God wants to say something to you through that person, the text or the object. When that is the case, just ask: ‘What do you want to tell me, Lord?’

HEAR THE VOICE OF GOD BY BEING REMINDED OF SOMETHING

Some people suddenly get a line, a song or a poem in their thoughts. It might be a good thing to find the complete text because it could be that God wants to tell you something through that text. It can be encouragement or an instruction of something God wants you to do. My wife regularly gets a song in her thoughts, a song she hasn’t heard for years. When we look up the text it turns out to be an answer to something we are struggling with at that moment. It can be very impressive and it gives you the feeling that God is really closely involved with your life.

HEAR THE VOICE OF GOD THROUGH PEOPLE;

God also uses people to talk to us. Many times those people don’t even realize God is speaking through them, but you will know because a certain line will deeply touch your for one or the other reason. It can be painful at times because God is pointing out a weakness or mistake. But the Bible shows us it is vitally important to listen to the warnings of others.

How many Christians, even leaders, go wrong just because they are too proud to recognize God’s voice through others?

But God speaks clearly in his Word that we have to pay attention to what He can say to us through others.

If you refuse good advice, you are asking for trouble; follow it and you are safe. (Proverbs 13:13)

Most churches and Christians today do not hear the voice of God or of the Holy Spirit because they are leaving under sin and the churches are not God called and there’s no Holy Spirit manifesting in such churches because they are not following what God has commanded, the Holy Spirit speaks today in church where he has been given room to speak and if the church is right before God and if the church is obedient in following all commands and laws of God. Most Christians do not hear the voice of God because they have focused more on the world and in other wards they have loved the world morethan God and his word, many profess to know God but in works they deny him, Titus1:16, such evils works hinder the Holy Spirit from speaking to them, many focus on their work than the work of God so he cannot speak to people who do not focus on them. And most Christians do not hear the voice of God because of wrong churches they are in.

Therefore brethren do not disgard this message and do not hardern your heart today if you hear the voice of the Holy Spirit as the children did in the wilderness so they died and prolonged their journey in the wilderness and also if you too do not turn away from your sins and repent and seek the True God you will surely die in your sins and end in Hell. So seek the Lord and voice while he maybe found and he will receive you.

May the Lord of Lords, King of Peace JESUS CHRIST direct your heart today and give you grace to hear his voice through his Holy Spirit. Peace to you All and God protect your Spirit.
