Dying to Glory

DYING to GLORY…

May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. Galations6:14.

This realm of the apostolic/prophetic dimension will reestablish the character of Christ in the earth. It will reactivate His inward death to self–and success–his death to personal glory and a soul that aches for fame and recognition. Death to glory is a much harder death to die than “sinful habits” per se. I’m not putting sin in a category, but success is something that we all want and desire. We do not minister to be a failure or a stumbling block. But Christ had to master success. He had to master being recognized.

Men who have not mastered glory get easily offended at others. We get “this stinging bitterness” inside of us when we have not died to glory. We will only have menial success in life and ministry with this hindering spirit still raging on the inside.

It will cause a jealousy to build on the inside of you. It will make you feel good when others “ministry does not work.” It will make you feel that “I am the one who can do this.” “I am the one”! “I am the one”!

Dying to glory is the hardest death to die. Glory is what will cause all of this mess to make sense! All we want is someone to notice, right?

Dying to glory. The hardest death to die…. (The Elijah List)

There is no greater pain than to sincerely desire to bless people and it backfires on you. To love people that will not love you back. To be rejected by a word you give, but yet see them receive the same word from someone else. But this is the season and time where the Spirit of God will allow those things to happen to cause us to die to glory. He will cause us to die to the thing we feel we need to be truly accepted and embraced, because we are tired of being alone in this thing! We are tired because it has been so long…since we had someone who truly understands.

God will use that time of loneliness to cause us to die to glory. It’s time to finally love the kingdom of God and not the kingdom of our works and toil. We have built inward kingdoms with God’s material. We have used His word to build an inward desire of personal acceptance.

God is breaking that house down. To those of us who are going through this season of “wild changes” and “crazy ministry,” He is breaking our houses down. We are learning to die to glory. We have to learn if we are going to truly live out the kingdom experience. He is putting us to inner shame as He breaks off the “stuff” we have magnified for so long.

We are going to make it, however. We will achieve the destiny of our lives that He has promised. But He is going to make sure that we love like Christ and understand like Christ before we handle His Mantle. (The death of personal Glory)

The hardest death to die in Christianity is dying to glory that Christ Jesus may be manifested in us.  Many Christians have died with Christ in other deeds that kill the flesh, for example Christians have died to immorality, fornication but many Christians have failed to die to glory of their flesh that the death of Jesus Christ may manifest in their bodies so that the Glory of Jesus Christ may be seen, instead of seeing Jesus Christ, we tend to show ourselves not Christ, personal glory is the hardest death to die.  It may be in inside of us because of rebellion and it’s the most cause of personal glory, see the story of Saul and Samuel

But Paul challenges me who spoke by the Holy Spirit in Galatians saying that May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. This Paul said that his life was replaced by the Cross of the Lord Jesus Christ; Paul no longer wanted to please himself, self pity, self righteousness, self promotion, self preservation. It was not about Paul nolonger but he talks of his life style dying away that Jesus Christ may replace the life of Paul lived.  In this scripture you come to learn that anything done after we have come to Jesus Christ should be for the glory of Christ, meaning we cannot boast about our works since we failed through Adam the old man in the flesh. Each time we do something and boast about it we take glory of Christ and that means we did it by ourselves without the help of the Holy Spirit. But the scripture says that we must always carry around in our body the death of Jesus Christ,

We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 2 Corrinthians4; 10.

That means that we need to die to self life and let the life of Christ reign in us and his death must be manifested everyday of our lives since it’s experiential and experimental.

Whenever we fail to die to ourselves for the life of Jesus Christ to rule and replace our lives we are still in the old man (Adam of sin) and this limits deliverance and the work of the Holy Spirit will be in vain.

God cannot use a man /woman who has not died to his self-life. Such a person cannot go far in the things of God. Christianity is a “call” to live the life of Christ and not our own life. Except we die to the self-life, we will still be living carnally even when we wear a big evangelical or ‘Pentecostal’ gown and parade ourselves as Christians. Humility is acceptance of the whole truth and application of the truth through knowledge of Christ Jesus.

Beloved friend, the fact that you are born-again is not the end of the matter, but the beginning. Just like the life of the caterpillar when it is in its body it crawls,  but after transforming into a butterfly it’s no longer a caterpillar and you cannot just find a butterfly and say what a grown up caterpillar but this time it will be different in a new splendor of its new body and looking pretty colorful and good and so that is how a Christian should be after regeneration but this has a process, because the caterpillar has its process when it can turn into a new butterfly as the drowning man is ‘drunk’ with water and needs a pressing or artificial respiration to enable the life within him manifest in the body, we need God to first deal to the root with all that is natural and of self-life before he can make us vessels of gold fit for use in His house and good for the throne (ruling and reigning with Him). For example, the love of money in the name of prosperity, personal ambition, opinions, natural affection, wild emotions, appetites of the body, strange desires, the love of life itself, and all that makes a converted man live unto himself, for his own comfort or advantage, for his own advancement, has to go to the cross. It is no theoretical death but real crucifixion with Christ.

Today some words like self-defense, self-made, self-sufficiency, self-effort, self-dependence, self actualization; among others are gaining grounds and fast becoming a way of life. But God is demanding that those who call on Him through Christ depart from iniquity. He that is not born of God cannot die to self. Remember that death speaks of separation, since Adam and Eve died (were separated from God) the moment they ate the forbidden fruit at the Garden of Eden (See Gen. 3). Also, remember that man in his natural form (i.e. before he is Born-Again) is dead to the things of God. That is why he cannot please God. He is still dead in trespasses and a captive of sin-nature, this sin-nature has a law and living style and manner that goes with it. That is what God begins to deal with after our spirit (inner-man) has been quickened to life by the last Adam who was made a life giving spirit (Jesus Christ). You can liken this to saving a drowning man from the river or sea, and after the rescue operation, you begin to press water out of his system (body) so that he can be fully delivered and activated. This should be our experience.

This is what Paul meant in Philippians;

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross! Philippians2; 3-8.

Jesus Christ was in the very nature of God but did not take the glory of the Father, he died to himself that the life of God, the Love of God, the mercy of God, humility of God and other attributes of divine nature of God may outshine human attributes for God’s glory to manifest to the world and this means Jesus Christ died to glory, he decreased that God may increased in him, so in him God was manifested to the world without controversy. That is why Jesus Christ accepted to be born poor district, poor village, but that did not matter at all, he had no self pity in his life, but his work was to reveal the true God to the entire world that is all mattered according and Paul speaks of we should have the same mind of Christ, now we are servants of Jesus Christ we should reveal Christ in our mortal bodies that the world may know the true Jesus Christ.

Remember before Jesus Christ’s manifestation to the world, everybody was deceived and no light , his work was to bring the true light in the world and reveal the True God in the flesh, our flesh has to die in order to have the very nature of God in us through Christ, in him dwells the Godhead in bodily form.  The mindset of Jesus Christ was to bring God glory through people being Born again into the Kingdom of God they had been separated from by the sin, through him the true living God would be revealed since the world was being deceived by Satan with religions, witchcraft, self righteousness and much more, but in doing the work of God Christ did not take the glory of God, he ceased himself but God was revealed in the flesh that we may have life and this was through shedding of his blood on the cross, the sign to show that he had accepted to die to glory that God’s people may be saved and by this he would be justified by God himself.

Jesus Christ gave this report about one of his purpose;

After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed:

“Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began. I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent meJohn17; 1-8.

In all what Jesus Christ was doing was to glorify the true God in the earth by his works and that God was manifested in the flesh. He looked for the glory of God and praise of God not men.

Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me. Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”

The Jews answered him, “Aren’t we right in saying that you are a Samaritan and demon-possessed?”“I am not possessed by a demon,” said Jesus, “but I honor my Father and you dishonor me. I am not seeking glory for myself; but there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge. Very truly I tell you, whoever obeys my word will never see death.” John8; 42-48.

In all the above scriptures reveals what Jesus came to do, his work was to manifest the true God to the world, that is through his word, death on the cross and in resurrection in order to bring those who have been under bondage of sin, for Jesus Christ going to the cross to deal with sinful nature that had no part from the beginning before the fall of Man, in order the new Devine nature of God may dwell in us again. What an amazing death on cross. Allowing this very nature of God to dwell in us, then we must accept to die to self that is the earthly nature and its worldly desires which Jesus Christ took to the cross.

For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Colossians3; 3-4.

The life of Christ Jesus should replace our life and no longer have to live the life of our own where it is corrupted with self promotion, self esteem, self righteous, self reliance and dependence. This kind of life glorifies the sinful nature and the devil that deceived the first Man. We must accept the death of Jesus Christ on the cross in us that our flesh we may die away with to live the life of Jesus Christ

When man fell in the Garden of Eden, he fell with every part of him – spirit, soul, and body. His inner man (spirit) could no longer contact God and eventually another god (Satan) and his demons made themselves available for him to contact. His Spiritual realm (will, mind, thought, imagination, emotions, desire, etc) automatically became a lawful captive in depravity (See Gen. 6:5). His body also lost the glory of God that covered it and hence became amenable to sickness, physical death (following the spiritual death) and was brought under the dominion of demons, animals and even the environment. In fact, man fell flat and could not express God who created him) Please pause and revisit [Gen. 1:26-31]. Since then, man (the fallen man) started expressing the fallen nature/himself and not God. He began to express death and not life for he rejected the tree of life (Jesus Christ)-

Now, let’s look at what the Lord Jesus said to His disciples (not to unbelievers) in Luke 9:23-24. “If any man will come after me, let him deny HIMSELF, and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.” Beloved God has not called us to live “our lives” but His life. So we must die to our SELF-LIFE before His life can flow through us. Note the expressions “cross” and “lose his life”. The cross speaks of a way to lose our self-life. “No cross no crown or throne” We see this in the life of Joseph, David and our Lord Jesus Christ. Again in II Cor.4:8-12, Apostle Paul confirmed the above scripture that he was dying daily having taken his cross. Verses 10 and 11 emphasizes death in us for Jesus sake “that the life of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.” But note that the “cross” does not refer to a metallic, wooden or painted “cross” signs or object dangling on scene people’s neck adoring some church buildings but the ways and means, denials, afflictions, rejections, sufferings, etc.) That God brings our way and we willingly accept them so that the “self” and its lusts can be dealt with for God’s life to be released in and through us.

The scripture that shows us the mind of God in this area of dying to self is John 12:23-25. “Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: But if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it…” Let me ask you now – since Christ has died for us, why is He still demanding that we die so as to bring forth much fruit (not just gifts). It is not spiritual death, or physical death that is required of us but to die to the self/soulish life so that the life of Christ can captivate our soul, and body also. Remember the transfiguration of Christ, and the face of Moses shinning when he came down from the mountain. Dying to self brings us to glory and a place of honor by God (John 24:23, 26). If we are to be true and worthy servants/slave of Christ if we are to see the crucified resurrected and living Christ manifest in us, we’re determined to overcome; we must willingly submit to the dealings of the Holy Spirit so that He can lead us to take our cross daily and die to the self-life- our prestige, ego, desires, plans, our wills and opinions, reputations, self confidence, natural affections, our own thoughts, our words, and our own lives. There cannot be two Lords on the throne of our life. Jesus has to take over all. Therefore, the “way up is the way down.” How? Jesus seeing the glory that was set before him “became obedient unto death even the death of the cross” (Philippians 2:5-1 1). So the way to life and God’s glory and exaltation is to die daily to the self-life. Self must die and decrease so that Christ can increase.

(Remember John the Baptist had death in himself and I guess it could be one of the reasons that made him greatest born of woman amongst men ever risen described by Jesus Christ in Mathew11; 11. John’s way was the journey of death to the cross and many did not accept his gospel, the Pharisees did not like John because they loved their lives they lived, self righteous, self promotion, their own words, their self esteemed and they never accepted the axe of John the Baptist, and those Christians who will fail to accept the way of death to cross and the cross itself will not be resurrected in the Spirit, nor will they appear with Christ to share in the glory in heaven. The Pharisees proved that and by loving their lives, they never repented, never regenerated, never believed and never died with Christ Jesus except a few who accepted  to cease in their works but the majority love self exaltation, self confident and so on- such come from the world not from the Father the creator of Heaven of and the earth . His manifest is a mystery and Devine in nature, and his nature cannot compete with our nature, its far contrary. We must accept to let go through the work of the Holy Spirit. Our life is not pleasing at all but the life of Jesus Christ washes away our selfishness, self confidence, self promotion, and self righteousness, to gain that life of Jesus Christ we must let his death in us every day in order

Presently, most people are begged ‘bribed’, lured or ‘frightened’ to follow Jesus with promises like no sickness, no poverty but millions of Naira and Dollars; no lack, no problem, no tiredness, no loss of their properties, no failure in examinations, etc. Beloved, it is a great pain that people get carried away and attracted by all these “goody goody” gospels of what they can get from Jesus Christ. In fact, “we present to them a crown without a cross and hand over to them a barren scepter.” We introduce them to the logos and not the Rhema. We speak “peace peace” “sleep sleep” when the trumpet alarm is sounding. We give them materialism and organise seminars and teach them how to make money, all in the name of “prosperity.” We are busy substituting big tithes, offering and pastoral birthday gifts with godliness and contentment which is gleat gain. We can go on to expose the abomination that is making the ‘Church’ desolate (Matt. 24:15).

Many have bluntly refused to die to self so they cannot bring forth Christ and bear fruit. They are only satisfied with gifts – speaking in tongues and “Church” activities and positions. They forget that God is emphasizing fruit now because the gifts are means to maturity and fruitfulness. Please pause and match I Cor.13 with Gal.5:22-26. Many have forgotten that any branch (Christian) that fails to bear fruit will be taken away (John 15:1-2). Because many are ‘content’ with spiritual barrenness and living to themselves they have come up with two classes of Christians -“Born Again Christians, and “Christians”.

Please how can you say you’re like Christ (Christian) when you are “Lording” or leading yourself and living your life and still proclaim Jesus as your ‘Lord and Saviour’. It sounds sweet but we forget that the Lordship of Christ comes after we are saved and through the diligent walk in the Spirit and death to self. The whole land is full of people who say that Jesus is the Saviour and Lord yet Fruit (Christ) is not springing forth out of them because they have refused to die to self. Hence, Righteousness (Christ) is yet to look down from heaven (Psalm 85:11) and say “this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased”. This is why we have “desolation”, “Babylon”, “Ichabod” and the likes written on many who parade as Christian today. The abomination of desolation is standing in the Holy place Now (Matt. 24:15) and the so-called “Churches” have become a gathering of all kinds of birds and a place of confusion (Babylon). This is a trumpet sound to you as an individual and to the sincere people of God to flee to Mount Zion where deliverance, holiness and restoration is going on (Obadiah 17). The way to Mt.Zion is through death to self and submission to the Spirit of God who is restoring and recovering a people, a body of believers Now (Read Isaiah 2 and Micah 4:1-5 as you go on). Now, let us conclude with some of the practicalities of dying to self as identified by a Writer.

“What does it mean to go to the Cross to die to the self life? When you are forgotten, or neglected, or purposely set at naught, and you don’t sting and hurt with the insult or the oversight, but your heart is happy, being counted worthy to suffer for Christ that is dying to self. When your good is evil spoken of, when your wishes are crossed, your advice disregarded, your opinion ridiculed, and you refuse to let anger rise in your heart, or even defend yourself, but take it all in patient loving silence, that is dying to self. When you are content with any food, any offering, any raiment, any climate, any society, any solitude, any interruption by the will of God that is dying to self. When you never care to refer to yourself in conversation, or to record your own good works, or itch after commendation, when you can truly love to be unknown that is dying to self. When you can see your brother prosper and have his needs met, and can honestly rejoice with him in spirit and feel no envy or question God, while your own needs are far greater and in desperate circumstances, that is dying to self. When you can receive correction and reproof from one of less stature than yourself and can humbly submit inwardly as well as outwardly, finding no rebellion or resentment rising up within your heart, that is dying to self. Are you dead yet? In these last days, the Spirit would bring us to the cross “That I may know Him…being made conformable to His death.”

Like the Philippians Church, we need to hold fast to the cross. And when others see a crucified people highly anointed of God, moving in deep revelation, imparting life and bearing much fruit of the Spirit … then there will be a great cry goes forth from the earth … “Let us go to Zion.” Let us hold fast the Head, exalting Jesus with all that is within us. Let us hold fast the Body, we need one another and we need the Ministries that God has set in the Body for our perfection. Let us hold fast the Word; it is rich and getting richer to us all the time. Let us hold fast the Cross, it is way to glory and our safe-guard against self-exalting spirits. Thus, we shall obtain the Kingdom, and thus shall we be a credit to the Gospel, and an example of that which God has created to be consecrated unto Himself.” God bless you and please avail yourself of the grace which is sufficient and willingly begin to carry your Cross today, and start dying to your self-life. Are you ready?

How many pastors today who have died to glory that God may be seen in them? How many Christians have died to self that Christ may be in seen in them? This generation is after recognition, fame and self ego, I normally hear how Christians praise themselves after preaching the word of God, evangelizing, or by the way how many pastors need to be seen on television screen doing their won miracles not from God? This generation is a disappointment to Jesus Christ. Everybody is looking for his glory, shame on us. After we rejoice and say we are waiting for the Lord Jesus Christ in the rapture even when we have not let him in us? We have hidden ourselves in the flesh and kept away from the presence of God in the very flesh he created. If we can hide away from God in the flesh he created how shall we really manifest him when we have hidden?

Christians have failed to die to their glory of the flesh that the life of Jesus Christ may be manifest in them what a shame but the same they are waiting for his return what a shame. The church is full of pride, who ever prays and the sick gets okay becomes conceited by the action, some say they are Christ, Holy Spirit themselves, God have mercy on us.

In fact it will be more tolerable for the generation of Sodom and Gomorrah than this wicked generation in the Day of Judgment. To some of us, recognition vindicates what others have misunderstood about us in some form or fashion. It says that we have succeeded. It answers years of pain and toil in being “put behind” by others. It gives us that good feeling to know that the “words” we taught that brought personal persecution, was confirmed by a “recognized” minister of the gospel.

How many of us have ever told a person (or believer), “Do not tell anyone that I ministered to you?” “Do not tell anyone that I am the one who prophesied that word to you.” Has anyone of us ever backed away from a sure victory or area of recognition? That is one the hardest things to do, believe me!

Being like Christ is more than dealing with lustful thinking and immoral habits. It’s learning to live with the power of success and effectiveness. It’s learning to truly give God His due for the things He has freely given to us.

I have much to say about dying to glory, but ask the Holy Spirit to kills every part of your life that still needs glory for the glory of Christ to be seen, accept the work of the Holy Spirit and let go every habit especially rebellion sin that is so much inside that springs and kills every word that comes out of you.

May the God of Peace give you the grace and through the knowledge of Jesus Christ grow and be enlightened in the eyes of the heart and in the wisdom of Christ who is the exact image of God.

I remain Asher Namanya the bondservant of God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ in manifestation power of the Holy Spirit.
